Remain calm, Celtics fans

We've had a busy stretch in the Metroplex with just team after team after team [but not another “after team”] vying for championships. The Dallas Stars didn't make it to the NHL Finals, but the Mavericks did, so they're headed to Boston tonight.

I, meanwhile, headed to the Mavs' gift shop outside the American Airlines Center to shove my microphone in the face of fans scooping up NBA Finals swag.
One woman said her associates sent her with a shopping list.
She says she had to rearrange her summer vacation because she didn't anticipate the Mavs turning around so quickly, but she was happy to do it. She said she doesn't mind sticking around the Texas heat if that means a championship.
One #adorbs family showed up to pick up some shirts for their wee munchkins. Dad explained the missus came out in 2011, but neither of their kids existed.
I talked to the head of the Dallas Sports Commission about all the attention we've been getting, starting with the Rangers, then the PBR World Finals and now both the Stars and Mavs going deep into the playoffs.
"Oh, not a baseball fan, eh? We got championship bull riding, hockey and basketball. Let us introduce the world to the Metroplex."

When the Rangers won the World Series, Maricopa County, Arizona paid off on a bet by delivering 52,000 eggs to the Tarrant Area Food Bank. After that, the head of Maricopa County's Board of Supervisors talked about just how lovely Arlington is.
The Diamondbacks had previously gone to the World Series in 2001, beating the New York Yankees. His position was Arlington gave off a much different vibe than New York.
Similarly, Mavs fans are ready to welcome Celtics fans to Texas.
"Sit back, enjoy the ride. Mavs fans are super cool." Just don't Boston it up with a bunch of hollerin'. This ain't New York.
Another guy explained we're sworn enemies during the game, but afterward, we can still go for a drink and maybe get some barbecue so people from up north can learn about Texas.
