About Alan Scaia
Alan Scaia has worked in some of the largest radio newsrooms in the country. Born in Dayton, Ohio, Alan graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana and tried to become a Major League Baseball umpire before going into journalism. After baseball, he wanted to see new places, so he took his first radio job in Hermiston, Oregon. He then moved on to newsrooms in Portland and Houston.
He moved to Dallas/Fort Worth in 2009. He has twice been named the "best radio reporter in Texas". He won the first award while working at WBAP, but was fired from his job as a network correspondent for getting water damage to a company car during a hurricane he had been assigned to cover. KRLD called the next day and invited him to join their newsroom across town, where he was again named the best radio reporter in Texas.
As a winner of multiple Edward R. Murrow Awards, Alan strives to follow in Murrow's footsteps by telling the real stories of Texas.
