Loyal Scaiaholics will recall I am a member of the world's brain trust. As such, the greatest minds on the planet met in Fort Worth last week to solve the world's most pressing issues and also gain a greater understanding of the history that led us this far.

For years, in the interest of journalism, I participated in a celebrity hot dog eating contest at Curly's Frozen Custard in Fort Worth. Never mind that the "celebrities" were people whose names you might sort of recall hearing on the radio or reading in a newspaper byline but had never felt especially strongly about.

I often write about how we shouldn't spend so much of our free time arguing with strangers on the internet. Turns out I was wrong.

After a heartfelt Independence Day where we all came together to celebrate our nation and all that unites us, we've now returned to arguing with strangers online about politics.

Much like our nation, Curly's Frozen Custard is never finished. They're always growing, always evolving.

Gallop reports we've never been less proud to be Americans. At the risk of editorializing, we should be proud. Heading into Independence Day, we should celebrate our right to argue with each other on Facebook. Many parts of the world don't have that luxury.
